I'll go with St Louis. Yes, they are not winless like Detroit, but I'm giving the Lions credit as a (slightly) better team because they have been more competitive with most of their opponents. Plus, the Lions have the privilege of trying to dig out from years of bad decisions from former GM Matt Millen, who stayed on in the job way, way too long.

For an example of how a team can go from perpetual "somewhat mediocre" to contender by changing it's owner, just look at the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. Or, the Indianapolis Colts, with it's fairly new owner, Jim Irsay. Until the Lions get a new owner, I see nothing much happening....(just as nothing much has happened with the team my entire life....literally!)

I have to pick the Lions because the Rams actually won against two decent teams the Redskins and Cowboys. The Lions OTOH only had a close game against the Bears and the Vikings not even on par with a Romo-less Cowboy team! But they both know how to stink up a stadium!

They looked pretty weak against the Bears today (who are pretty lousy in their own right); the Lions also lost at home to Tampa after leading 17-0 at one point. I think the Lions have an excellent chance to go winless this season. quote:

The Bears ownership (the McCaskey's) is pretty bad also; although I grew up a Bears fan in the 1970s, and still think Walter Payton is the greatest all-around player in NFL history, three years ago I swore off the Bears until they are sold.

The Lions? They might make it into the playoffs once a decade...and, even then, lose in the first game.

I voted Other for the Chargers. Any team wasting that much talent, has to be considered the worst.

Throw the Vikings in the under achievers lists, as well. LOTS of talent on both sides of the ball, but bad coaching and no one at quarterback who's worth a squat will kill you. Especially embarrassing when the early predictions have you taking your division by a landslide.

I voted Other for the Chargers. I have to agree with NoShow. A team with that much offensive talent should be blowing teams out of the water early on. Does anyone else wonder if the management staff for the Chargers is suddenly kicking themselves for letting Marty Schottenheimer (sp?) go, and replacing him with a second-rate hack like Norv Turner?

The Charger defense is obviously not to be counted on. Turner needs to open up the play book. The Chargers need to have 42 points by the half, so they can win by 3-7 points in the end.

i agree. the defense is second-rate, but I still say that Turner was the wrong man for the job on that team.

He just didn't seem to be able to crank his teams' intensity up a little more in the playoffs hence his plethora of wins but lack of rings.

Speaking of Marty, there were rumors on the Bottom Line ticker on ESPN, yesterday, that both he and Cowher could be interested in coaching the Cleveland Browns next season. Considering of course that Romeo Crenell gets fired...... *cough**cough*surething*cough*couch*

Of course, that's what he says in public.

The Raiders had Norv Turner as coach, and he had a 9-23 record, even with Randy Moss. He was the offensive coach in SF. He was just brilliant in Washington, drafting Heath Shuler (now a member of Congress).... Those Lions are the worst team, IMO... quote:

ORIGINAL: chemdude77 Of course, I was dripping with sarcasm! I did say he was the offensive coach... Remember, both teams in California had to endure Norv-itis for a few years. quote:
Maybe he's a better Congressman, if there is such a thing! That may not be saying much... I guess the talent pool is so small for NFL coaches that the owners hire guys just on the fact that they have head coaching experience (or can fog a mirror). Who cares if that coaching experience resulted in a losing record.
