Today is my 58th birthday, but it is also one year to the day that I buried my wonderful 26 y/o son. Despite the continued sadness due to his loss, I thank God for the miraculous and unmistakable message of comfort that was provided to me after my son's death. I have related the circumstances of the answer to my prayer that provided me comfort on another thread that I started in the "Prayer and Praise Reports," under the topic, "praising God one year after tragedy," if you are interested.
I thank God today and every day for his love and mercy.
I also thank God that I am here today. Four years ago, I had a malignant melanoma, one of the most dangerous types of skin cancer removed. The lesion was superficial and as a result I am completely cured. A few months later I developed a severe infection related to diverticulitis which required a sigmoid resection. At the time of surgery it was discovered that I had formed an abscess against the wall of the bladder, indicating that the colon had perforated and sealed itself off.
Had the perforation leaked into the abdominal cavity causing peritonitis I would very possibly have died, as I had not sought treatment at the time despite severe pain and fever.
Then two years ago I developed an irregular heartbeat. I had a stress test which was negative and I was told that my physical condition was above average for a twenty y/o at the age of 56. Three months later while doing my usual exercise routine I developed chest pain and as the stress test was negative, I exercised through the pain for three days until it was too severe to continue. I was found to have severe coronary artery disease and required an emergency quintuple bypass open heart surgery.
Again, I could have died suddenly while exercising, or during surgery.
I give thanks to God that He has healed me and I was able to return to work after five weeks and within six months I was able to do all of the things I could do before, even vigorous exercise, which to me has always been a way to relieve tension of my occupation. Even more than for myself, I thank God that I survived these conditions so that my wife did not lose a husband as well as a son in less than a year.
I have so much to be thankful for, including a Christian mother who was responsible for my accepting Jesus as my savior at an early age. I am thankful for a beautiful, loving wife of more than 37 years. I am also thankful for God directing my path into the field of medicine and giving me the opportunity to be an orthopedic surgeon, which has been emotionally fulfilling and has provided my family with financial benifits that I could not have dreamed of while growing up.
I thank God for a surviving son with whom I have a great relationship, but who has not accepted Christ. Having been given the unmistakable confirmation that my deceased son had been saved I look forward to the day that I can give praise and thanks to God that my prayer for the salvation of his brother has been answered, and I have confidence that He will not deny my plea.

I want to thank God for being my "superman". I had a rough day looking for apartments. One after the others, I had seen several, were sad to say the least. Just when I thought about just walking away for the day... I met a christian couple who were renting out a apartments. I had coffee with them an talked about his glory.... I am going to bed with a soaring heart.

Of course I thank Him for everything but I am going to get personal. I thank Him for a good day at work yesterday. it went smooth and I didn't have any rude customers. I thank Him for His strength he gives me everyday to go about the day in peace. I thank Him for being THE blessing to me so now I may turn and be a blessing to others.

For anointed music (Dennis Jernigan), so that instead of getting more and more down and depressed, I can worship God instead and have a great day.

I want to thank Him for being such a loving, heavenly Father -- in every way. He sent His Son for us -- and I thank Jesus, His beloved Son, that He reconciled us to the Father, and came for us, to know the Father. Yet, Him and the Father are ONE.

When I was young, I couldn't bring myself to use the word "Father" in prayer. I was so turned-off by the "dad-son thing", but deep inside, every son longs for a loving, yet firm, father that is there. On a daily basis, I didn't have that, but I have that now -- and He is perfect in all His ways. When a father truly shows love to his son, yet has a firm, loving hand of discipline (for his son's best), the son can't escape that father. He does anything to make up for his mistakes, and wants to see his father proud of him again. Through Jesus, that is how I feel towards my Holy Father in Heaven.

Thank you, Father. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Holy Spirit.

I'm thankful to Him, our Eternal Lord, our Everlasting Father, for the people that have prayed for me in my life -- from family, to friends, to maybe even people I don't even know. I'm so thankful to Him and those that prayed. Now, I go do the same.

Along with all the Biblical titles & names for God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, words like faith, hope, love, light, life, truth, mercy, grace, forgiveness, salvation, redeemed, righteousness, holiness, hosanna, hallelujiah, risen, free, heaven, worthy, glory, worship, praise, and eternity are all such beautiful words that revolve around Him and His own. Oh, to dwell in the house of the Lord forever!

JEREMIAH 31:3

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness."

For my husband coming home safe from Iraq and thus meeting him for the first time. He is the love of my life and I'm just hoping God keeps him safe this next deployment.

For this mini-deployment, because I can use it as a time to grow, even though it's only three weeks.

For having enough food in the house, gas in the car, and the bills being able to be paid.

For the Lord always being there for me even though I may not always be there for Him.

For my best friend in the world.

For my birthmother.

For this forum and website, you guys have made a bad day a little bit better.

RedeemedbyHisblood, what a blessing your post was!

Thank You for Your peace Father. For Your perfect peace.

Glory to Him for His loving kindness to us all! You're encouragement reminded me of the Scripture which shows that when we are in Him, the "Living Water", we have living water coming out of us. The verse is John 7:38.

I'm thankful to God for the beautiful seasons. I love seeing autumn coming...
