We have that problem here and had that problem in the Midwest. I don't understand why people get a pet if they aren't going to invest the love, time and money that the pet needs?

It is bad around here too. I have a friend who has 14 cats + their kittens. She has a barn and people drop the cats on the road and they meander in. She would feed her barn cats, and they all eat. What is she supposed to do? She can't get them all fixed - the kittens aren't even catchable, let alone adoptable.

I didn't place an ad. The first time we really thought we'd be able to find homes, then the humane society wanted $w5 a cat since they were our pets because we kept them trying to find them homes. This time, we just decided outright to keep it.

In the meanwhile, we IGNORE them and try to be inhospitable to them. No petting, no talking, and they usually take the hint. In fact, Cheerios eats indoors so that we don't feed the others.

One of my neighbors in Indiana had a farm. He is an elderly widower with no children. He always has tons of cats around and never buys cat food. When he suspects that one is diseased, he has to shoot it and that is often very hard on him. But, he can't catch them and doesn't want all the cats getting sick.

We have one cat...that's more than enough according to DH. She's spayed, so no more kittens for us.

A dog can keep you warm too and cover more territory

Or a space heater? I hear those are good and used one last year. It would do one room....

In this house they are better at raising the PG&E bill than the theromostat!

Ours didn't really raise our PG & E bill at all. The AC in the summer certainly did though.

I took a kitten in about 2 months ago. My neighbors cat had kittens, and she just put them at the side of the road, and left a sign that said "free kittens" Well I am not the biggest cat fan, but I was watching to see if she would at least go outside to feed them, and she didn't, so I took the entire box and called a few people that use to work with me, and asked if they wanted any, there was 4 cats and I got rid of all of them except for one, so I kept him. Now I love him to death , well I went to my neighbor to tell her how horrible that was that she just left that kittens there, and she said "well It would have been to hard to find home for all of them" and I told her I found homes for all of them in 2 hours, she just rolled her eyes. I just can't believe someone would do that!

Would you like some more?

We thought we kept a Tom, but I am begining to suspect that we did not...

If we take her in to be fixed and she is in the family way - it is unChristian to have her fixed anyhow? I really want the cat, even though I try to give it away with every opportunity. I even thought about getting him fixed when it was a him, but now I'm unsure of the gender but I know we can't get rid of a litter of kittens and a winter litter won't make it outdoors anyways....

So this post isn't a complete downer - at least the name is gender neutral - Cheerios, but it answers to CAT. You know, CAT get out of my way.

Some vets will do a spay/abort, some won't. Step #1 is to check with your vet.

Nah - step one would be to HAVE a vet.

The only dr I visit consistantly is the eye doctor and I doubt he is qualified.

I talked to Poppa about it this morning and he said call, he knows I like the cat.

When we married, Poppa had always lived at home. His mom had passed the year before and I just moved in with him and his dad. They always had cats and didn't have any problem with them and Toby had two kittens - her last litter. My FIL found a home for the female and kept the male.

He told Poppa he thought I needed a cat. This never made sense to me. About a year after my FIL passed I heard the story that they had wanted another child and it hadn't happened and they started raising plants because if you 'mother' something, it makes it easier to become a mother. One of those old wives tales, although I wonder if there is any proof to back it up...

We know my FIL knew he was sick in November, and have always wondered if he knew before we got married. Part of me wonders if he was hoping to see grandbabies and that is why I NEEDED a cat.

We had Butchy for years and lost him when I was pregnant with DeeDee.

Our local council is looking to open a reduced cost/possible free vet clinic to help our people who are too poor to desex their pets because we have a huge feral problem in some areas of our municipality.

Still doing OK with the storms. It must have poured a bucketload last night while we slept though. There is pretty much not one loose leaf left on either of the two huge trees in our backyard. They look almost spartan. And our neighbours roof is practically sparkling. Some of their tiles I'd swear looked brand new (and it was covered in lichen beforehand - still some in patches, but mostly cleaned off).

Hi all! Two and a half years on Crosswalk and I've never been to Women Only! Thought I'd check it out! I usually hang out in the community lounge or radio and television. Sometimes up in the ministry section.

I'm Amy, and I'm a New Englander. It's cold here now. Anyway, I'm a home-schooling mom with 3 kids (2 teen daughters and a 9 year old boy), and my husband is trying to divorce me. He is a born-again, pentecostal Christian turned atheist. I'm going through a lot right now, but God is my rock.

For Thanksgiving it is usually us and my mom. I cook a turkey and we all pitch in with the side dishes. (And there are many of those!) My favorite part of it all are the leftovers!

I recognize a few folks from the lounge here! (HI!) Well, need to go get my morning coffee!

Hi, ladies!

I can't believe it's been a week since I last was on here. It's been a busy week.

Jennifer- Mabrook! Glad you're back.

Australia ladies- I hope you've come through the bad weather OK. Or better yet, live nowhere near it.

We had a 4 hour curriculum meeting today and I'm pooped. Since E has a bunch of tests to study for anyway, we're skipping church tomorrow. E likes to listen to THE LUTHERAN HOUR so we might do that during one of his breaks.

Well, have a nice day, ladies.

One of the girls at work yesterday was going home to an inch of water in her ceiling. She lives on her own with her little boy so could really do with prayers. She did say she has plenty of helpers, but it's those times at night when you haven't got the helpers around which can get to you.

Our trees out the back just look really sparse right now, all the loose leaves have been blown off them and they're super clean.

It was raining so hard last night that I was shocked to find it wasn't hailing here.

In case anyone is wondering, I don't live anywhere near the part of Brisbane which was destroyed by the storm a couple of days ago.

Kylie

Good to hear, Kylie. Has it been anywhere near the Gold Coast?

Welcome back, Mrs Jennifer!

We've had some storms over here in Perth, but nothing like what Kylie's area has been experiencing.

It's mostly been north Brisbane and out through The Gap and toward Ipswich. I believe the Gold Coast, like us, had some pretty heavy rain but no severe damage.

Dh told me about the storms in Perth. He's been there all week.

How is everyone doing on their Christmas shopping? I've only just begun. I'll do a lot on-line.

I'm scared to start.

I keep running into more and more unexpected expenses.

I hit the deer, so deductable + rental overage. Poppa hit a guide rail, new lens or light. Poppa hit debris and bent the wheel, so new wheel. Heating fuel. Dental work. Boy Scout Jamboree. Girl Scout trip, times 2. Those two will add up to $3000.

I typed 3 paragraphs and hit delete. Why? I was bellyaching about the problems with buying for our families and it boils down to the fact that requested items often run contrary to what I want to spend money on or are out of budget and I feel very stressed to be sure everyone is happy.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to nicely point out DeeDee's figure to my SIL's. See, her daughters are rails. You know. 5'2" and 90# soaking wet. No need for a bra. DeeDee is 5"4", 125# and wears a 36A/B. That means junior size medium is cut to tight and too low. And no, she doesn't have a cami to go under it because we don't dress that way.

I started buying mine throughout the year so I didn't have a huge pile of things to buy at the end of the year.

I've still got some Christmas cards to write out etc, but I'm working towards being ready for it.

Didn't do any today. I woke up this morning feeling so sick!

All done except for the buying part,
that will have to wait until the money part comes in.
