So how does the new place compare with the old place? Are you happy to be in a new place?

It's older, but much bigger, which is what we need. It's cleaned up really well. Also bigger back yard, completely fenced in, and a partially finished basement which adds even more room. And a nicer neighborhood. Josiah knows how to pick 'em.

Asrat and Gebre are loving this move, because anything soft, I just throw into garbage bags, which they then get to throw down the stairs. Boy heaven, hurling bags of stuff around. Not so much fun hauling it up all the steps at the new house though.

Israel screams when she's trying to poop. She won't take a pacifier so I give her a bottle which she'll take but I know she's not hungry. Nothing else makes her stop crying until she's finished. The problem is that after she's done screaming she throws up. Like all of what she ate. I don't want her throwing up all the time and I don't wanna waste the formula but how else do I get her to stop screaming? She isn't constipated and she goes regularly so I dont know why she cries?

ROFL Maggie, hope you are getting some pics of this to put on your blog!

Rami how do you know she's not hungry? And if she isn't then giving her a bottle won't really help her in the end. Have you been to your doctor to rule out allergies or reflux?

Because she'll just have eaten about half an hour prior. I tried to ask the dr about reflux and he just said that all babies have it and that was it

Well I think you need to find a new doctor. Not ALL babies have reflux, what a silly thing to say. What a terrible doctor.

sounds like she is just being normal....sometimes it takes a baby a few months to figure out how to accurately use their muscles down there...and for some, screaming helps them learn to push the right way. Some babies have trouble until they are pretty much to the "surfing furniture" stage...by then they have a good grasp of their muscles and how to use them....other babies figure it out a lot earlier then that. So I would just say endure the screaming...try to help her with bicycling her legs, etc...and don't feed her then. Sounds like she is spitting it all up because she is upset...so don't feed her when she is upset.

When you say she nothing will stop her crying til she's finished, you mean finished doing her poop or finished the whole screaming thing?

Don't feed her anymore when she is crying like that, its only going to make whatever is going worse it sounds, especially as she throws it all up again. Though, have you tried giving her smaller amounts of milk more frequently?

How often does she scream? Only when its time to poop? How often is "regular:?

spitting up...does she spit up after every time she eats? Does she seem upset by it when she does it? Have you weighed to find out exactly how much she is spitting up? (you can do this with a scale like a kitchen scale that does ounces...weight the blanket/spit up rag when it is dry, then after she spits up weigh it again to see how much she spit up...you may be surprised how little it is compared to what she is taking in from her feedings).

Also sometimes the sphincter above the stomach is not fully formed...usually by 9-12 months it is and they stop spitting up. I have a feeling that is what your dr was referring to...not the medical condition of actual "reflux" like Nath has.

Yes that is what I was meaning Sarah, true reflux, not the type of spitting up that babies normally do.
Although I think the other questions I just asked will be relevant to working out if its anything to be concerned about or not.

My hubby was given something with codeine when he had bronchitis earlier this year. Apparently it's good for bad coughs, somehow. He started itching though, so we think he's allergic.

She eats about every 3 hours n usually poops not long after. I dont have a scale to see how much she is spitting but its a lot. At least an ounce each time and she does that at least twice. Not after every feeding tho, just when I feed her whlie she's pooping. As soon as she's done pooping and I change her diaper she stops crying.

I think she's just getting used to pooping like Sarah said and she is spitting up because she is getting too much food when she's not really hungry.
Try giving her a bath, massage her belly, cycle her legs, take her outside, sing songs etc to distract her while she is crying.

yup...sounds normal. try what Nicole said...and try having her upright...when she is string enough try letting her "stand" or "jump" as that helps her identify which muscles to use.

Going to join you all this time around.

Can I say that I'm honestly irritated by those that think that just because all my kids are now in school that I should be working outside the home. I got it again today in an e-mail to my husband from his aunt. Thankfully my hubby doesn't feel this way.

Glad your new home fits your needs Maggie!

Hang it there Rami - little one will be fine!

Crystal - I can't take anything with codiene either. I break out in hives and my face gets majorly puffy!

Blessings,

Garsy

Ya all I have a kinda personal question? I don't wanna start a debate or anything I just want some advice from people who have been Christians longer than I.

I'm really having a hard time with depression and anxiety and I don't know what to do. Everyone keeps telling me to talk to a doctor and get some help but I think that would be wrong because doesn't that mean I don't have enough faith or that I'm not close enough to God? I've prayed and prayed that He would make it go away but it's not going away and some days I just think I'm going crazy. I can't remember anything and I cry all the time and I'm just a hot mess. And if everyone found out that I was being medicated then they would think that I'm a bad christian. I just dont know what to do.

Rami, it doesn't mean you don't have enough faith. ((((hugs))))). Many of us have struggled with this. You just had a baby. Your hormones are all out of whack and will be for some time. It's OK to seek some help. It's healthy for your baby and your family that YOU are healthy.

Rami, sometimes God blesses us with doctors and therapists to do His work and help His children through difficult times. There are so many Christians out there using their medical and psychological training to help others just like yourself.

Please don't feel that reaching out to these skilled men and women is a reflection on your own faith. Perhaps it is by faith that you must reach out for help, using God's wisdom and discernment to find a healthcare provider who can assist you with your struggles.

absolutely not Rami! Absolutely not! I went through a horrible bout with PPD for several months after the birth of my eldest dd and I can vividly remember sitting at the dinner table after being complimented on the meal I prepared and bursting into tears. When my hubby convinced me to reach out for help even though we did not have insurance coverage yet after a job change, I was able to find the answers and got the help and support I needed to get through it all.

Please reach out for help and support if you need it!

Blessings,

Garsy

Rami I think you need to see a doctor or someone to help you through what you are going through. Its got nothing to do with faith! (((hugs)))

Welcome Garsy
