ORIGINAL: keriaan Prairiehiker, Sorry, you can't uninvite someone. The next best thing to do is delete them from your friends list or block them. There's a couple of ways to remove them from your friends list: 1) Select your "Friends" tab then "All Friends." Find your "friend" then click on the X to the far right of their name. 2) Go to the person's profile. As you have invited them you should be able to view it. Scroll down the page looking on the left hand side underneath their photo for a link named "Remove from Friends." To block someone go to the following link: http://www.facebook.com/privacy/?ref=mb and enter their name in the appropriate place. Blocking them will break any Facebook ties you have with them (including invitation) and you'll disappear from their Facebook world. After sufficient time has passed (and you think that they think that they were just imagining that they saw an invitation from you) you can always go and unblock them. You don't have to "be friends" with someone to block them, right? You can block someone who sends you a message without ever responding to the message and giving them access to your profile, right? To the best of my knowledge.

So, there would be no reason to reply to a person's message if you intended to block them?

No reason to respond if you intend to block.

Yes, I blocked someone that I have no corresponded to on FB. For example, if someone was stalking you you could block them before they had a chance to look you up.

But this would only work if you knew who was stalking you, and they used their actual true name on facebook, right? Anyone can create a facebook under a ficticious name, or someone's name other than their own, can't they?

You can set up facebook where your personal information wouldn't show or even if people were looking for you in searching profiles as well.

Yes. But if you know that you don't want person X to even know you are on FB you can block them. You can set your profile so they can only see your name. If they request to be your friend you can find out who they are and block them.

If someone were to use someone else's name to set up their account, how would you know?

Right. So if someone set up an account under the name of someone you did know, and impersonated them, you might never know who it was. People can be sneaky.

So in that case, you should not let your guard down on facebook when interacting with "friends". Be careful not to post anything that can potentially be used against you. Never identify when you are going to be away from home giving specific days/times. And always be careful what personal info you post, such as anything that can give someone clues about your passwords and such. Hmmm....

I'm on FB and am currently finding it a useful way to connect with family and people from high school I haven't seen in a while. I am starting to be choosy about who I befriend. A friend's mother added me. I said OK but now I am having second thoughts. She sends me 50 bazillion "farm town" requests (I have quickly lost any passing interest I had in that application) wishes me a "happy mother's day" and sends me quizzes like "what kind of mom are you." That's what I get for "befriending" a strange that doesn't even know me well enough to know I'm not a mom!

I'm on facebook; I think I have a few of you as friends there already. I'll pm anyone (here) my name and school/networks... My pm box was notoriously full, but I deleted a bunch a few minutes ago. If it's still full, just let me know in the thread. :)

I get to see more baby pictures on FB. So fun! It's also good for keeping up with people from church during the week. Sometimes you can't reach someone by phone, but you can get a message to them over FB.
