I answered "no", but not because I think it is against my creed. I just don't enjoy being scared like a lot of other people seem to. I also avoid roller coasters and bungee jumping. I just don't see the attraction to things that inspire fear. But I do understand that some people enjoy it and I'm not going to tell them they shouldn't do it.

Personally, I don't watch many horror movies, mostly because many of them throw in gratuitous sex. Those that don't tend to rely on pointless gore - as if seeing the insides of people were the basis of horror. I don't have a problem per se with violence in movies - I do have a problem (more artistic than moral) with movies that rely on violence to carry them.
The only recent horror movie I've seen and thoroughly enjoyed (and been genuinely scared by) has been The Descent. It was incredibly formulaic, but the execution was 1st rate. I was also very impressed that, despite an all-female cast, the creators chose to never once take things in a sexual direction.

How do you know this?

Because they do not champion what He clearly championed when He walked on earth, teaching and showing by example.

Are you even aware that the Bible contains depictions of graphic violence, Prayer Warrior? Sorry, but I find that statement rather laughable and sad at the same time.

You just made me smile....

Yes, certainly, I am aware of graphic violence in the Bible.

When did our Lord Jesus, who is the ultimate New Covenant and faithful life's example, ever portray graphic violence? Please don't quote the time Jesus {finally} got angry and chased the greedy money changers out of the temple court. They were gouging the poor, so they could 'pay' for a tiny sacrifice...perhaps a pigeon or a dove...to offer to God.

Kind of like ticket scalping...ha

:)

Quite the contrary. He forgave those who beat him to a pulp and nailed Him visciously to the cross. This is where the ultimate example shows me who He was and is.

He shows us the Way....to an amazing life on earth and in heaven (later).

Take care,
pw

Not many movies or tv, either. Occasionally I do, but it has to be something special.

I am a people-person. I get together with people for 90% of my entertainment. :)

What movies to you watch?

Sorry for the confusion, but I didn't ask how many movies you watch. I asked what movies you watched. Maybe a list of your three most recent movies?

A wide variety of films. I tend to shy away from the romantic comedies, the raunchy comedies, the gore-fest horrors, and anything with graphic sexual depictions - which, as I said before, rules out most modern horror films.

Let's see... Top three movies -
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Man Who Would be King
Six-String Samurai

Three most recent movies -
Ocean's 11
Last Chance Harvey
Shutter Island

I suppose some would consider Shutter Island a horror movie. I didn't, though it did have its creepy times.

I enjoy watching a scary movie here and there, but I have my own criteria for them.
Nothing slasher-esque or blood squirting gory for certain.
And most of the ones with the gratuitous sex are teenagers/young adults in some cabin the woods...I avoid completely. You can usually tell by the synopsis or ratings if there is sex in the movie.

Shutter Island is one I look forward to watching.

I'm more into the action/adventure type, and really old classic films. But I do like horror films also - just not as much as the previous two.

I liked the - "Nightmare On Elm Street" series, and - "Chucky 1-3". Thought "Chucky 4" was a bomb.

I would have enjoyed this more had I not gone into it thinking it was a horror; it's more of a psychological thriller IMO.

A lot of horror movies just look dumb so I don't watch them.

If a scary movie/horror movie interests me, then yes, I'll watch it. There was so much hype about "Paranormal Activity" when that first came out that I couldn't wait to see it. I was expecting it to be scary. Wrong! It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Lame ending!!!!! It wasn't even scary at all. "A Haunting in Connecticut" was a freaky movie. There was one scene, I won't tell you which one, in which I had to look away. Creepy movie.

The horror movies that are all blood and guts are just boring and not anything I'd usually want to see. I do remember as a kid, though, watching the original "Halloween" with Jamie Lee Curtis and thinking that was one of the scariest movies I'd seen.
