Hebrews 11:37-40 They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground. These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. For those who fear........... Deuteronomy 3:22 "Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you." Deuteronomy 31:8 "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Matthew 10:29-31 "Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows." Matthew 6:8b "Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him." Hebrews 13:6b "Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Revelation 1:17b, 18 "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades." Luke 12:32 "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom." Happy Tuesday Friends! What a night we had! Jim and I got to bed early since nothing was on TV but within 2 hours of falling asleep, the dang dog decided he needed to go out. I let him out, brought him back in and he was quite determined I was to come to the sofa with him! I put up with his quite whimpers for about 2 hours before I got up and locked him up down the hall. He began barking for me, which woke Nick. Nick got up and offered to sleep with the dog. So, I get back in bed and am almost asleep and I hear this very odd noise. Then again. And again. It almost sounded like someone was using aluminum pans to make the sound of thunder. I thought Nick was playing his PS3 so came down to see. He’d not heard the noise! Then Jim jumps out of bed and calls down the hallway ‘What’s that noise?’ We finally found it. My electric toothbrush needs a new head. I can’t afford that right now so I’d unplugged it and stored it under the bathroom cabinet. The stupid thing was running! I couldn’t get it to stop! I’m guessing the battery is running down and it has no mind of its own. It did it again while I was in the shower this morning. So, we finally got back to sleep around 5:00. Jim was up not long after 6:00 because he had a faculty meeting this morning. I slept in til 7:40. Boy are we tired today! I had tried opening the windows yesterday when the rain moved in but the house got way too humid and hot! It was only 72° outside and over 80° inside. That wasn’t going to work! We closed the house back up. Now rain is moving in this afternoon. Big thunder and dark skies! I love storms. Is that weird or what? My headache is gone! I sat down at supper last night and felt some relief in my neck and shoulders. The headache went away and hasn’t come back. I’ll get a ‘strain’ feeling in the back of my scalp if I bend or twist certain ways and cause the neuropathy in my feet to intensify, but no headache. We planned on having left-overs for supper, but Nick ate them all for lunch. That kid has quite an appetite! His midnight snack was Field peas with snap beans. I had some for lunch. Maybe we’ll have hashbrowns and eggs. That’ll be a quick and easy meal. Nothing is thawed out! So, Nick and I cleaned out the huge storage closet under the stairs today for the yard sale. He did most of the work. It’s a long and narrow closet with a big shelving unit on one side and a shelf for hanging in the back. Almost everything in there is for our yard sale. I’ve got a box of pictures I want to move into there and will go through someday when the grown kids are here. I’ll give them most of their childhood photos. My mother has mine stored somewhere and won’t give them to me. Speaking of my mother, it’s been so quiet around here without her phone calls. I’m used to her calling me many, many times a day. She’ll be in Europe almost another month. Originally she had said she’d come and stay with us for my last few treatments, in case I felt ill and needed help. Thankfully, we were able to get by without help. Oh, a wonderful church family did bring us supper one night. It was enough for two full meals. YUM I made myself a fresh gallon of Sweet Tea this afternoon. I can drink cold things again. Still having trouble with very cold and thick items, like yogurt or salad dressings, but the tea hit the spot! I checked in with the secretary of the Sunday School class we’ve chosen to join, since we won’t be teaching for a few years. They’re doing a ‘Learning through the Bible’ course and have been in James the last few weeks. That’s neat! I’m so looking forward to being back in church and with our church friends. Speaking of church, the ladies study on John the Beloved, a Beth Moore study, starts in a few weeks. It’s every Tuesday morning and runs through the middle of November. I’m really looking forward to that. John is my favorite disciple. The disciple, whom Jesus loved. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! I believe the words of Jesus and trust in HIM. God Bless, I will not die, but live, and I will proclaim what the Lord has done. Psalms 118:17 Diane Tavegia

Revelation 2:4-5 “'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.' Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent.’” Psalm 4:5-6 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the Lord. Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. 2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this Age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Did you have a busy day? I sure did! It started quite early, too. I needed the car, so had to take hubby to work. I was up at 6:00 and had my breakfast with Nick while Jim showered and fooled around with his music. I had lots of errands that needed doing. Pay the electric bill. Drop off items at the consignment shop and pick up the $7.00 they had for me. Run to the Post Office and mail Halloween purses to our granddaughters. Take over 100 items to Fullerville Baptist Church gym for our Home School book, video, game sale on Friday. After that, it was time for Nick’s Book Club at the library with his home school friends. Run him back home and go to pick up hubby at school. We wanted to go to the girl’s softball game in Haralson County so went directly there from school. We ran into a horrific storm and turned around. Game Cancelled. Came home and made tuna fish sandwiches for supper. I accomplished MUCH today! Friday is Jim’s 62nd birthday. I’m going to bake a cake for him and make some homemade chili for Friday’s supper. Nope, I won’t eat the cake. Too much fat! I’d rather be healthy. If I eat ONE piece, I’ll eat many pieces. I have NO self-control sometimes. I wanted to share something. I'd been going through menopause for a few years and found it very difficult to focus on things such as scripture reading and prayer. My mind was always filled with STUFF. What needed to be done, what ifs and junk. I sought the Lord and prayed that He would quiet my mind and bring me back to a state where I could focus on Him and worship, praise Him without distractions. I prayed, Send Me, Oh Lord. Then I found out about my colon cancer. The world stopped. The wasted thoughts stopped. My mind was dead silent. Did God give me colon cancer as an answer to my prayer or did he use that evil disease for my benefit. Whichever, it doesn't matter. I have GREAT PEACE. I have been given GREAT FAITH that God has totally healed me and that this cancer will never return. God spoke to me in my time in the wilderness and showed me the white fields that are rotting because no one is harvesting those fields. Whatever, whichever, I praise God for His still, small voice that follows the great winds, raging fires and other times of turmoil. God is good! God is AWESOME! Blessed be His Name! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Are You in the wilderness? Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. It is among popular "Christian" belief that an abundance of material and other blessings follow those whose hearts are truly after God and that those who seem to consistently struggle to that end, cannot possibly be in God's perfect will. I want to submit to you a realization I had about this very thing. I think we might have it all backwards. Almost all the great men of faith I've read about in the Bible had to spend some time in the wilderness. Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist, just to name a few. God had to make them desperate. He had to cause them to be quiet and undistracted enough to hear His still, small voice. He had to make them hungry and thirsty enough to cry out for a miracle. Interestingly, the word for wilderness, in Hebrew, is "meed-bahr". And meed-bahr comes from the word "leh-da-behr", which means to speak. Hmmm. Some of us are walking through the desert right now. It's hot by day -- there is only rugged, thorny, sandy terrain for miles and miles and there seems no end. By night, the wind is unbearably cold and we stumble over things we can barely see. Snakes and scorpions live here. It seems like a lonely place. But this is actually a place of blessing! It is for our growth, and ultimately for our prosperity that God has brought us here! Like it or not, the wilderness is where He can speak to us most effectively. It is the place He can most easily get our attention. It is the place we will cry out to God and truly listen for His voice. Friend, know that God is with you today! He is walking along with us through this wilderness and longing to comfort us! If we would only cry out to Him and heed His voice! The promised land awaits! And there's so much work to be done!! Your family in the Lord with much agape love, George, Rivka, Elianna & Obadiah Currently in the Negev Desert, Israel Worthynews.com Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! God Bless, Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will You let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand. Diane Tavegia

Hebrews 2:14-15 Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it's logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil's hold on death an...d freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death. I went to church today! Oh, I was supposed to wait for the all clear on my white blood cell count this Tuesday but I feel great and just couldn’t wait any longer. It was wonderful seeing old friends. Sad that some have left in the time I’ve been out. We had chosen our Sunday School class and it was a great fit! I love our teacher and his wife and he does a good job teaching and leading discussion. Our lesson was on James 4. We’ll finish James next week and then start a study on Psalms. We’re already friends with most of the class members so that was neat. I’m going to be a Grandma again. Our daughter is expecting a baby around April 8th. Isn’t that wonderful? Grandchildren are a blessing! Erin and Gregg are sure excited, as are their respective girls. They both have 2 from previous marriages. Jim and I finally planted the Hydrangeas I’d started from seeds I’d collected from Jon’s plant last fall. Jim pulled up four azaleas that didn’t make it even one season and we put them there and in another small bed. I’ve still got more seeds and will be collecting a lot more this fall. One of my Butterfly Bushes had fallen over. Darn thing does it every year! This one bush gets too leggy. I don’t know why. I have one GIANT bush, two good sized bushes and 2 small ones in the back yard. I have two sad looking ones out front and two very tiny ones in the back that have been round for 10 year and never have done well. I am going to cut the leggy one down almost to the ground next spring and see if that helps. I’d only cut it to about knee height this past year, or rather had Jon do it for me. I picked up a few branches but was very careful. As soon as I get the ‘all clear’ on Tuesday, I have lots I want to do! I’ve really missed working in the yard. I bathed the dog and brushed the cat. I did some knitting. I cleaned the kitchen and started some laundry. I’ve had a very busy day! I’m so glad my life is back to normal! I put on a pair of my dress slacks for church today. I’d worn them last fall. They are a good 6 inches too big in the waist! Wow, I’m thrilled! Now if I can just lose these last couple of pounds, I’ll be super thrilled! Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Romans 8:34 Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us and now is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, making intercession for us." Psalm 98:1 Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things..... A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured. Mark 1:40-42 Photo by Jon Tavegia, August 2009 Hello friends, Well, today was a bit busy. I had to be up early to take Jim to school because I had to have the car. I had my blood tests today that I had requested before seeing the dentist later this month. Good results! The lab sends out the chemistry part so I might hear back that I need potassium. I’m not expecting that, tho. Horse pills! Wonderful News! My oncologist saw me today and said ‘You’re doing SO good that we won’t need to see you for 4 months and again at 8 months. You’ll have a scan the week before the 8 month visit. ‘ I don’t have to go back to see them until mid December! I’m soooooooo happy! Praises to our Lord and Savior, Healer, Friend, Alpha and Omega, Lord of everthing. God be praised! Thank You, Holy Spirit for being with me in my times of turmoil! I got a call this afternoon with a time and date for having my port removed from my chest. I go on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at 8:30 a.m. for that. It’s a bit freaky because they actually do it in the doctor’s office. The nurse said they’ll numb my chest, cut in the same spot as for insertion and then pull it out. I’ll feel pressure but no pain. Freaky! More good news. Jim’s principal told him to go with me and just come to school when he’s got me back home. Isn’t she a blessing? Jon Tavegia We had steak for supper. I ate a piece about the size of an orange slice. It tasted good, but I no longer crave red meats. Healthy eating rocks. We also had boiled okra, fresh Lima beans and steamed new potatoes. I’m only supposed to have red meat once a month (or less) and four ounces or less. I didn’t eat any of the pot roast I made for last night. I ate all veggies. I’m glad the new TV season is starting in the next week or so. Reruns are getting boring! Last night I watched ‘Night Mother’. It’s a really good movie, tho it deals with suicide. I believe suicide is a sin and is also selfish. The movie is sad but quite good. Very well done. It has Sissy Spacek and Anne Bancroft as the only two characters other than a family seen at a distance. I’ve had the VHS for probably 18 or so years. What will I do tomorrow? Hmmmm… Well, if it’s not too hot, I’m going to weed a flowerbed. I’ve got the all clear to eat oysters, clean out the cat litter, work in the dirt and LIVE a long and healthy life. I so appreciate your prayers, your cards, emails, gifts, meals, offers to drive me or clean my house, gifts of cash to help with doctor bills…. The list goes on! Certainly you have stepped out and done for the least of these… Just a sinner. Saved by Grace! Chief among sinners. Spared eternal damnation by the sacrifice of the sinless, spotless Lamb. Please join me in prayer that my colon cancer will never return!

Haggai 1:9 "You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why? " declares the Lord Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house." Galatians 3:5-9 "So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, 'ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU.' So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer." ~ ~ ~ ♥ ~ ~ ~ Boy, the weekend got here so quickly~ I postponed our yard sale because we have had storms for so many days in a row and expected more for today and tomorrow. I’ll plan it for next weekend, now. That’s a 3 day weekend. That being said, I’ve sold a number of larger items by mentioning them on Facebook. I’d sold $56.25 worth of books, games and DVD’s at our home school book sale a week ago. I sold a brand new tent a few weeks ago and a Foosball table and Air Hockey table today. Not bad, making over $150.00 BEFORE the sale begins. I’m quite pleased! Our rec room downstairs looks huge with the big game tables out of there. Nick and I sorted through his Lego's today. Jim and I had already gone through several bins of toys and separated them for the yard sale or to save for when the grandchildren visit. Some will be saved for Nick’s children. I got Nick to move the Wii down to the rec room so I can bowl, play tennis, baseball, etc. He seldom uses his Wii, using his PS2 and PS3 much more often. That’ll be some exercise for me when it’s too cold, too hot or storming. It warmed back up here, so we closed the house up this morning. I’ve really enjoyed the cooler weather and open windows. I sleep so well when it’s raining. We’re expecting more rain this week. Monday is the dentist for both me and Nick. My cleaning is at 8:00 and his is at 9:40. We’ll have to take Jim to work, first, and he’s in the opposite direction so it’ll be a long morning for us. The dentist we use is always late and very, very slow. I’m really thinking about changing dentists, but Nick has been with this group since he was four years old. His original dentist is only part time and in another town over an hour from here, now. Our dentist is a sweet young lady, but always slow and always running behind. I will have my Powerport removed from my chest on Wednesday at 8:20. That is done in the surgeon’s office. Jim’s going to take me. I’m sure I’ve already told you that, tho. I have so many knitting projects going at once. I get bored with a color and switch to another project. Kaylee, age 6, was disappointed that I didn’t send her a winter scarf so I started her a very pretty scarf that is pink and black. It’s quite ‘mod’. I think she’ll love it. I’m only half finished. I have several purses to line and those will be completed. I just need to go down to the rec room and do them all at once. The largest room in our downstairs, where my sewing machine is located, has no windows. The smaller room, where Jim has a music room, has two windows. One faces our side yard and the other faces the street. I don’t like rooms without windows. I need to pick up an old window frame and create a false window with lighting behind it, I guess. Our daughter’s wedding (second) is planned for the Sept. 19th. They’re having a small wedding in their backyard with just her girls, his girls and the man who is marrying them and his girlfriend. It’s way too far for us to attend. Erin found a beautiful dress. It’s much prettier than the very expensive wedding gown she had for her first marriage. This one is a champaign color and can be used for any dress or semi formal occasion. Well, I’m rested up and am ready for some more chores. Have a great evening and Lord’s Day. See you in church! Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. Eph. 5:5-7 "For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them..." Eph. 5:11 "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. " Hi Guys, I didn’t realize it’s been a week since I’d blogged. It’s been a busy week. Nick and I went to the dentist on Monday. We had a new hygenist and really liked her. I have to have a crown on a molar we’d been watching. It has a small ‘hole’ in one side and a shadow in the other. Nick also had a cavity. I’m afraid he’s inherited my teeth. My cost is $492. for me and only $69.00 for Nick. Wednesday was my port removal. It was not fun. I didn’t have any pain, but it was not a nice experience. The doctor yanked and pulled for quite a while, cutting away scar tissue, etc. I bled quite a bit and then was in pain for 2 days. I took off the bandage yesterday. I’m quite bruised but it’s closed up nicely. It’s still sore to the touch, but no pain otherwise. We got everything ready for our yard sale. I told you! It began to rain. Light rain, but rain. We didn’t have many customers today but I made over $200.00. We had one man ask if he could return on Sunday afternoon so we agreed. I think I’ll also have it on Monday so we can try to get rid of everything we have. Tuesday starts our Women’s Bible Study. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s from 9 til 11. I won’t have to rush out since I won’t have any daycare children to worry about. My mother will be returning from Europe a week from Sunday, on the 13th. I sure hope she had fun! Hope the trip wasn’t too much for them. We’ve got a lot of upsetting things going on in our extended family. Please remember this unspoken need in prayer. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! “And whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:44-45 Happy Labor Day! Well, true to form, we LABORED all day on Labor Day. :o) The whole family was up at 7:00 and got busy not much later. Jim and I scrubbed the deck chairs and small table. Our large patio table had shattered earlier this week and we gave it and the umbrella away on Freecycle. We also gave away our Christmas Deer, wire tree and lamppost. The people came and picked them up today. I like the deck without the big table and umbrella. We’ll get a small table and no umbrella later, maybe. Jim cut our grass while I did the weeding in the flowerbed up against the house. Our edger broke just before he finished. We have a long driveway and he also edges along the street. He finished up with a shovel. Something broke on the lawnmower too. One of the wheels had something break that helps the self propelled thingy. Jim said he noticed it was hard to cut on the hill. No problem. Jim can order the part and repair it. We’ll just replace the edger because they don’t cost that much. I’d decided to enlarge my flowerbed by the house so Jim got up the sod in the area I’d marked out with paint. I’ve got a little more to do in that bed before I choose some fall plantings. We took the sod from that bed and filled in some bare spots in the yard. Jim also cut the grass in the backyard. Most of the yard out back is under about 70 trees so has no grass. It’s looking nice! Our Honeysuckle is about to bloom and so is my Jasmine. I can smell the few blossoms once in a while. Wish I had a Lilac TREE. I have got to work on losing those 9-10 lbs I gained during chemo. I can still wear my size 8 jeans but they are tight in the waist. That bugs me because just two months ago, they were loose in the waist. Shucks! So, I had Raisin Bran at about 10:00 and a green salad at almost 4:00. That’s going to be it for me today. Jump starting and paying for the pizza (salty) yesterday. Guess what! I wore a sleeveless summer shirt today. That’s the first time I’ve been in the sun for a long time this year. I’m sure my nose will break out, but don’t expect any problems on my arms. Other than the neuropathy in my hands and feet, I feel GREAT! I don’t mind the sensation in my feet while I have on shoes and socks. They do bug me a little when I first go to bed at night. My hands are more of a problem. Sometimes they are very painful. I drop things. I mistype because I think I’ve pushed a key down hard enough and then see I’m missing letters. It’ll pass. Six months to a year or maybe less. I can deal with it. Tomorrow, Tuesday, is our Women’s Bible Study. I’m so excited about it! Cannot wait! I’m heading out to the deck to do some knitting or maybe some crossword puzzles. Hope y’all have had a great long weekend! Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! Before HE hung the moon, He knew my name! Joshua 3:3-4 “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God with the Levite priests bearing it, leave your places and follow it; so that you may know the way to go, because you have never walked this path before.” Jeremiah 1:5-8 "I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations. But I protested, 'Oh no, Lord God! Look, I don't know how to speak since I am only a youth.' Then he Lord said to me: Do not say: I am only a youth; for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you. Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to deliver you. This is the Lord's declaration." Wow, this week went fast! I’ve been very busy. Of course, most of it was out and about and not doing house work. We’re having lovely weather. It’s not too warm and we’ve gotten a bit of rain this week. Latter Rain. I like the rain and I love autumn. It should cool down quite a bit soon and stay cool. Autumn, winter and spring are my favorite seasons. I can do without summer. My mother will be back in the states this Sunday night. We’re to pick her up at the airport a little after 7:00. I’ve got clean sheets on the ‘company’ bed for her. I sure hope she had a good time and it wasn’t too strenuous for someone her age. It’s been quite odd, not talking to her numerous times a day for the last month. Our daughter is getting married (second marriage) a week from tomorrow. She has everything all set. It’s just going to be his and her daughters and the ‘minister’ and his girlfriend. She’s expecting a baby in April. She does things ‘out of order’ but we believe ALL children are a gift from God. Today, Jim and I bathed the dog. It was much easier with two of us. Scooter is VERY good. I can move the baby gate from in front of my bedroom door (he’s not allowed in my bedroom) and say… ‘Go get in the tub’ and he does. After we showered, we went to the dump, bought some groceries and had a late lunch. I mopped the kitchen and bath room floors. I also did laundry, dusted the living room and some other smaller or usual chores. Jim cut both his hair and Nick’s hair for church. We have a Flowbee. We’ve had one for about 18 or more years. This is our second one. It does such a nice job. You hook it to the vacuum, it sucks the hair up into the blades and cuts it to the length you’ve chosen according to the spacers. When I wore my hair short, I used it too. Think of all the money we’ve saved over the years! Last night we went to Hobby Lobby and looked at all the fall decorations. They’ve got their Christmas things out, but I just glanced at them from the end of the row. Last Christmas was a bummer since I was sick (didn’t know at the time WHY I was sick). We decorated and had a big meal but I didn’t enjoy any of it. I had to quickly take down the Christmas decorations before my surgery for colon cancer. I pray this year is wonderful! I set up a reminder with the Atlanta airport in case my mother’s flight changes. I saw the current flights from that area are arriving an hour early. We’re going to be prepared, just in case. Tomorrow’s Sunday School lesson is in Psalms again. We’ve had some good lessons! I’m happy to be in an adult class after all these years. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return!

Who do you LOOK like? 1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Genesis 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. John 14:9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 2 Timothy 3:14-15 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. What an adventure! My mother was to arrive home from Europe on Sunday and we were all set to pick her up. Her flight got to London late so they were rescheduled for Monday night. We left here at 6:00 and got home around 11:00. Mother and her travel buddy had changed plans and we took them into Atlanta. By time we got to bed, it seemed it was time to get up! It was my turn to help with breakfast for our Ladies Bible Study. I took grapes, cantelope, strawberries, watermelon, cubed cheeses and cheese grits. The grits were still hot when they were served! The other ladies brought scrambled egg and sausage casseroles, a blueberry crisp and some homemade breakfast breads. YUM! I had a large covered dish of grits, a platter of fruit, two containers of cheeses and a Tupperware container of fruits. How ever was I going to get that all inside the church and not be wiped out from the walk, up and down, in and out? Well, I no sooner pulled up near the church than Patty W. and another gal who works in our pre-school came right to the car saying 'You need help'.... and they took EVERYTHING into the Villa Room for me! I love our church family! Thanks again ladies! Jim stayed home from work today. He’s had a tummy ache and it’s not getting better yet. He helped Nick with his home schooling. It was really neat! I sat at the table and knitted while they did school work. So, I helped my mother by doing some bill paying online for her via the phone and then mailed her the receipts. Other than my usual chores, not much got done today. Oh, we had Rotinni with sauce and turkey meatballs tonight. It was so very good! It’s amazing how good super healthy food can be. Tomorrow is Nick’s Book Club with a couple of home school groups. He read ‘The Pianist’ by Wladyslaw Szpilman. It’s the true story of a Polish Jew who also happened to be a concert pianist and his life hiding from the Germans during WWII. We have the movie and love it. Nick said the book is almost perfectly aligned to the movie. Only a few details were changed. Well, we’ve had rain on and off much of the day. It’s quite cool and just lovely. I’ve heard thunder many times today. Our Ladies Bible Study touched on the ‘Sons of Thunder’ and God’s voice as thunder. Neat. Hope you have a very lovely evening! Enjoy time with your family and friends and remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Psalm 5:3 In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 119:147 “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.” Heb 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 1 Corinthians 2:7-8 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Who is this King of Glory! We had a wonderful church service today! Wow… Everything was great. We had 6 or 7 baptized at the start of our service and the music and sermon were great. We also had a huge turnout in Sunday School. Only a few members were missing from our class. Jon and Mary went to church with us and came home for lunch. We had meatloaf, potatoes, green beans and gray. Not our usual fare, but easy enough. This afternoon we went to the viewing of a young man from our church that had died suddenly yesterday. He was found by his son. Please remember the Smallwood family in your prayers. I’d mentioned earlier that our daughter was expecting and going to be married this weekend. They had a small ceremony this weekend. Erin lost the baby earlier in the week. I don’t know much about miscarriages, but she’s still not feeling well and has been under a doctor’s care. Ah, the new TV series has begun! I love some of the shows that will be returning this week. There’s also a few new shows that interest me. The adversary is trying to cause fear and doubt today. I believe it’s because I feel God using me to bring peace to others who are ill or have loved ones who need healing. Please remember me in your prayers as I rebuke the devil and claim God’s promises of healing and assurance that my colon cancer will never return! Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Habakkuk 3:17-18 Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls, Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. Matthew 6:30, 33 “If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ... But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” Friday, well where ever did this week go? Torrential rains. Massive flooding. Roof leaks. Many deaths in our small county. More rain tonight and this weekend expected. Praises! We had a very specific need and I was concerned about it earlier today. Nick and I were talking and I told him, “I’ve trusted God to heal me of colon cancer so I’m going to just give Him this need, too’. Within MINUTES, I got an answer up and beyond our need! God is mighty and God is faithful. He provides for all our needs. Hubby is bringing home a BBQ Chicken Dinner from Bremen High School tonight. It was a fund raiser and he’d ‘signed up’ quite a while ago. Nice treat! Our water is drinkable. The water department verified that those who had never lost water were receiving clean water. We’ve had to be extremely careful for almost a week and the stores were out of jugs of water so this is another blessing today. Our church is sponsoring an Archery Event tomorrow. Nick’s quite excited about it. Jim and I will go just to be there for him, but won’t participate in the archery. The church is serving hotdogs and I won’t eat them but once a year or so. Maybe I’ll pack us a lunch. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! Romans 8:22-29 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. ♥ ♥ ♥ Not much has been going on around our house. We’ve had some good news and bad news lately, tho. Our daughter miscarried her baby. We do have a lovely new son in law and 2 new (step) granddaughters, tho. I’m really enjoying our Ladies Bible Study at our church. It runs through November 17th. It’s a Beth Moore study on John the Beloved. We have a revival October 4- 7th and I’m looking forward to that. Evangelist Steve Hale will be leading us. If you’re in the area, I’d love to have you attend. Let me know and I’ll save you a seat. Fall weather is slowing arriving. Our nights get a bit chilly but our days still ease up into the mid to high 70°’s. I’ve worn a sweater a few times. My hands are not happy with the change of weather. The neuropathy makes them very, very painful at times and the chill in the air only worsens the pain. I’ve worn my winter gloves in the house a few times. I’m just thankful for the chemo and for my healing! This will pass. My family is teasing me about all the scarves I’ve made. I have them in so many colors and styles. I enjoy knitting and it does help my hands. I use an inexpensive yarn, since I’m not making actual clothing. I can make 3 long scarves for $2.00. I still cannot crochet. I don’t have enough control over my hands for that. Someday. I feel great. I do have some times when I worry about ‘what if’ but scripture tells us to take captive every thought and I rebuke the adversary, quote scripture and pray. I’d appreciate prayers for that need and remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! Faith is not believing God CAN, it's KNOWING God WILL. Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him. John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God Well, Well…. I guess I’m falling behind on my blog but I’ve not had loads to report. Yesterday, Oct. 10th, 2009, was our 39th Wedding Anniversary. I have been greatly blessed and I thank God for my precious Jim. We had a wonderful revival this past week. Dr. Steve Hale, staff evangelist under Dr. Johnny Hunt was our speaker. Jim and I attended all but one service. One night I had a sore throat and headache and so many in our church are already sick, that we skipped that night. I felt fine by mid morning the next day. We've been having such computer problems with my old computer. Looks like I'll have to get a new tower soon. My monitor and keyboard are fine. I’m going to volunteer at the school where Jim works one day a week. I sent in my paperwork for my 7 year background check on Friday. I need to be more involved with people and get out of the house more, and with only one car, my options are limited. I’ll be able to eat lunch with Jim on those days. I already am friends with some of the teachers. Gosh, attendance in our Sunday School class is low most weeks. I know most of the class are retired people and they travel or go to football games. I have gone 7 years or more and never missed a Sunday School class so …. We have a lady in church who hasn’t missed Sunday School in 55 years (or is it 56?) It seems funny when I think about it, but I cannot imagine me being in a class with retired people! Afterall, I’m only 35 in my mind. :o) I sure like some of the new shows on this year. We’re watching ‘Trauma’, ‘Mercy’, ‘Three Rivers’, ‘Flash Forward’ and our regulars from last year. All of these are interesting and I hope they last the year. We’re halfway thru our Beth Moore Bible Study. It’s on John the Beloved but includes so many other people from the Bible. This isn’t as deep as most of her other studies but it’s still good. Did I tell you our daughter had a miscarriage? She’s seeing some specialist because it appears there may be some health problem. She’s not that young anymore. She has two ‘step daughters’ from her new marriage plus her girls are now (almost) 9 and 6. I feel great, I do have a lot of neuropathy from nerve damage from the chemo but I deal with it. My hands hurt very badly each afternoon and sometimes wake me at night, but I am thankful for the medicines that God gave to us through those he blessed with the knowledge and talent to create such medicines and I’m thankful for all HE has done in my life. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! If you have a prayer need, I’ll gladly pray for you, too!

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord; And He delights in his way. When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong; Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.” Psalms 37:23 And how are things in your corner of the world? We’re doing really well. Yikes, it’s cold. We had pretty strong winds for a while today, too. I wore my heavy winter coat to church and am so glad I did. The sun was out and it looked pretty, but walking to the car at almost noon was …. Cold! What have I been doing? Well, I’ve volunteered to be a mentor at a middle school and got my background check done. I’m not wanted. Boo Hoo. It says… ‘Not wanted’. LOL My seven year background check was a blank sheet of paper. I’ve been asked to mentor a girl early morning one day a week. I’m going to ask to have that switched to afternoons because of us only having one car. I’ll eat lunch with Jim that day and then move on to work with a young lady. This past week was quite busy with home school classes. This week we only have book club. I think Nick will drop out of book club after this week. He and his girlfriend read the same book and then watched the movie made of the book. They made a wonderful diorama to take to class. The problem is there are almost 30 kids in book club. The kids 3rd grade and up are in with the high school kids. Some of the pre-teen boys are very loud and disruptive. They interrupt while the kids are trying to give their book reports or share thoughts. Nick said enough is enough. The same thing happens with Spanish and American Sign Language classes. So…. I’ve contacted a friend who has a degree in Spanish. Her husband is a local Hispanic Minister. She’s considering teaching a class for the older kids. We’d pay her, where the other is free, but I know Nick would learn in her class and Lori would not put up with any disruptions. We’ll see if we can work it out. Nick’s girl friend’s parents both know American Sign Language. I’m thinking about offering to teach the two kids French if they’d teach Nick ASL. I believe American Sign Language should be accepted as a second language in colleges! Certainly, I believe it’s an important tool for reaching the lost. I took 7 years of French. The problem is, the teacher I had for many years was from Texas and spoke French with a strong southern accent. Bone Ju-yur. So, I’m going to find a French book I like and get that started. It should be fun. Nick and Jennifer get along really well and work well together. I enjoy spending time with them. Both have older parents and both are home schooled since they were tiny, so they’re not your typical teens. I’ve also been knitting a lot. I’ve made myself probably 9 or 10 scarves and Jim asked me to knit 10 for him to give to different teachers for Christmas. I’ve gotten four completed and have three others in the works. I get bored with a color so like to be able to pick up another project when one gets boring. I’m going to start my Christmas shopping in a few days. I have no idea what to get the grandchildren this year. When you don’t like nearby, it’s hard to know what they like and what they have or don’t have. Things I think a 6 or 9 year old would like, they don’t like! I still played with dolls when I was 12 years old. Now girls give up dolls quite early, I’m told. We’re doing something interesting. Maybe you’ve heard of ‘The Power of One’ where each person is asked to invite one person to church. Well, I do that already so I’m going to invite everyone I come in contact with to come visit our church. Pastor is going to preach a simple type salvation message every week in November so those who have not been in church previously can understand. Well, I am going to watch ‘Three Rivers’ , a new show about a transplant team, so I’ll talk to you later. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return!

Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. Hello again, I’ve veen quite busy since I last blogged. Our weather has been awful much of the time so I haven’t been able to work in my flower beds but I have done a lot of window shopping and walking. Tomorrow I begin my mentoring. Only one girl is scheduled for tomorrow and I don’t know if that is going to be the norm or if it’s because there is an assembly tomorrow afternoon. So, this week I’ve gone to the bank a couple of times, post office three times, paid the electric bill, dry cleaners, tailors, got myself a haircut and then took Nick to the Barber Shop. I’ve also gone to the mall twice and gone to Hobby Lobby a few times, a consignment shop, Pottery Barn and Joanne’s Fabrics. I’d seen a couple of sleeveless sweaters at Christopher and Banks that I wanted. They’re on sale. I went back to buy one or more and they didn’t even have ONE size small left. I’m going to look at their website and see if they’re on sale there. Stores round here don’t get in a lot of small items. It’s hard to shop! Last night I went out to dinner with a group of ladies from my church. We had so much fun. It’s a once a month event. Our next outing is Nov. 17th. Only one lady was a bit older than me. The others are 20- 25 years younger but we sure had fun! Friday night, Jim and I are chaperoning Nick and his girlfriend on a date. They’d gone to the football game last week, with her parents, and we’re taking them to Stars and Strikes in Dallas, Ga. this Friday night to play the games. Stars and Strikes has Laser Tag and Bumper Cars plus all the usual games. We’ll take them for hamburgers first and Jim and I will eat in the restaurant at the bowling alley. It’s very nice and has great food. Saturday afternoon is our churches Trunk or Treat. Jim and I set up two games we made a few years ago. Our middle son drew the character, Jim cut the hole for the beanbag and I painted the character. It’s VERY cute. We also have another game Jim and I made that’s sort of a Bozo the Clown type toss game. Are you old enough to remember Bozo’s games? Saturday night Nick is going with his girlfriend and her mother, Trick or Treating. The mom loves to dress up, too. We live in a subdivision, so we’ll have hundreds of Trick or Treaters. My poor dog! He hates to doorbell. Next Tuesday night we’re going to an advanced screening of a movie for teens. It is sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The movie will be out in January. It’s called, ‘To Save a Life’. Do a search for it. FCA is showing it for free to parents, teachers, youth workers, Sunday School teachers, etc. You can check out the movie and see if there’s a showing in your area off that. Also, we want to go see Disney’s ‘A Christmas Carol’. We do NOT want to see it in 3D but it’s being shown in a regular format locally. Neat. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! Jesus said, ‘Your faith has made you whole’. He also ‘saw their faith’. He said ‘You have not because you ask not’. In faith, I ask for a forever healing! Giving God the Father all the honor…. God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Hebrews 2:14-15 By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil's hold on death and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death. HI my Frriends, Guess I’ve been away for a while, eh? Honestly, I’ve been quite busy with loads of fun things. I’m mentoring every Thursday and I’ve been teaching my ‘friend’ how to knit. We’re making a scarf for her mother for Christmas. She chose a shade of baby blue. It’s going to be quite pretty. Hubby and I are going to be teaching a Bible Study Sunday School Class starting the first Sunday in December. Actually, he’s going to teach and I’ll be the secretary plus do all the contacts, make coffee and goodies, etc. I’m a social butterfly so greeting people and serving others fits me very well. Our first study is one by Chuck Colson called ‘How Now Shall We Live’. It’s a 12 week study. Let’s see, just this week we’ve gone out to eat several times. Nick had Jennifer over after American Sign Language and Spanish this week. They watched ‘Popeye’ with Robin Williams and played some sports games on the Wii. We took them for pizza before taking them to Youth Group at church. Thursday night a big group went out to eat at The Lazy Donkey in Carrollton for a teacher who is moving away. That was fun. I got chicken. Today, Saturday, Jim and I got up quite early and did all our Christmas shopping except for each other. We went to Toys R Us for the grandchildren and to the mall for Nick. I’d ordered most of Nick’s presents over the internet and they’ve all arrived. He’s going to be so happy and surprised! I got my mother a Paula Dean Cook book that also has sweet stories Paula shared about the holidays. My mother never, ever likes anything anyone gets her but she does love Paula Dean and cookbooks. We had lunch at Market Deli in the mall. We always share a sandwich. We chose a grilled chicken sandwich on Whole Grain bread with lettuce, tomato, onions, black olives and Swiss cheese. It was so good. Jennifer is coming home with us after church tomorrow for our Sunday dinner and to watch movies. She’s such a lovely girl and she and Nick really enjoy each other’s company. Oh, I got my crown started on my molar and Nick had a dental appointment last week. I go back on Dec. 8th to get the real crown. Let’s not talk about it, but I go for my four month blood tests with my onocologist’s physician’s assistant in one month. That’s not something I want to even think about. ACK! God has healed me! Thank you Jesus! I’ve not started any Christmas decorating. I really need to get some furniture moved and do my fall cleaning before the tree is brought up. It doesn’t seem like Christmas yet. Hmmm. This coming Tuesday is Ladies Night Out with my church friends. I’m looking forward to it. Tuesday is also our last week for our Beth Moore Study. Another will begin in Jan. or Feb. So, my neuropathy in my hands has gotten much worse. It’s quite hard to type. I drop things every day, too. My feet still have the pins and needles sensation and they feel really odd when I first wake up, but I don’t trip as often and am not having the wobbly feeling quite as often. That’s all good. Just waiting for my hands to get fixed. I understand it can take a year and some may never go away, but it’s a fair trade for healing and I’m not complaining. It’s very hard to describe, but think frost bite, pins and needles type pain but numb so that I cannot tell warm from cold for a few minutes. I’ve actually cut myself a few times and burned my fingers. Like I said, it’s a fair trade for good health. I’ve been getting ‘casual exercise’ which is walking for long periods at a pleasant pace. I can manage that without my feet or legs feeling odd. That’s still much more than I had been doing for years. I’ve lost the 9 lbs I gained during chemo, too. I’m not eating red meats and basically no pork either. Chicken and turkey, seafood…. That’s it for me. Jim’s watching football (I don’t enjoy sports) and I’ve played Jak and Daxter on my PS2 for hours. Nick’s playing Call of Duty MW2 on his PS3 while talking on the phone to his girlfriend. He says he multi tasks. Oh, I am not adjusting well to the time change! Once it gets dark, I think it’s time to go to bed. It takes me an hour or so of feeling sleepy to wake back up for the evening. Wish we’d find a time and stay with it! Well, just wanted to check in and tell you I’m doing GREAT! Enjoying life and having loads of fun. Wish the same for you, too. Remember me in your prayers for a total healing from colon cancer. God is AWESOME! Diane

“Jesus looked him hard in the eye — and loved him! He said, ‘There's one thing left: Go sell whatever you own and give it to the poor. All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth. And come follow me.’ The man's face clouded over. This was the last thing he expected to hear, and he walked off with a heavy heart. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and not about to let go.” Mark 10:21-22 Oh what a beautiful day! It’s just gorgeous! Crisp air and blue, blue skies. I’ve finished all my Christmas shopping. Now I need to wrap my gifts and find boxes for shipping presents to the grand kids. I’m glad it’s all done! I do not like last minute anything or rushing to be places, get things done. Jim has been home sick all week. He wasn’t feeling that great the end of last week because of a chest cold. Well, by Saturday night he was very sick. He never had a fever, tho. He’s been taking a Z-pak since Sunday and thinks he will go back to work Thursday. He’s still coughing, but it’s much better. Yesterday was our last lesson in the study by Beth Moore, ‘John the Beloved’. We went out for lunch afterwards and I really enjoyed it. I chose a vegetable plate of creamed corn, fried okra and collard greens. It came with a dessert and I was going to refuse it until I saw it was homemade pumpkin bread. Oh was it good! Last night was Ladies Night Out for our friends at First Baptist in Villa Rica. There were seven of us last night. Our dinner lasted for just over 2 ½ hours. I had picked up a church friend and she needed to stop by the pharmacy before going home, so we made a quick stop. Again, so much fun! Our next dinner out is Dec. 8th. I’d helped choose the date and place and then Jim reminded me that the date we chose is his school Christmas Dinner and that we’d already paid and reserved our spot. Drat! Maybe the date of Ladies Night Out can be changed. Hope so. Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. Hobby Lobby has their fall items on sale for 80% off. I spent $19.99 and got over $100.00 worth of beautiful items! I’d like to go to their other store in another town to see if they have anything else I’d want. Oh goodness! I need to make new Christmas bows for our formal tree. I have the ribbon and wire but just have not sat down and cut it to make the bows. I need to get that done and soon! Our new ‘Bible Study Sunday School Class’ has been formally announced. It begins on Dec. 6th. I’ve already had several Sunday School teachers say they wanted to attend but aren’t sure they could find someone to fill in for them for the 12 weeks. Our first study is Chuck Colson’s ‘How Now Shall We Live’. We bought the book as well as the teaching material and Jim is reading that, too. Would you believe it’s Nov. 18th and I’ve yet to put in a Christmas CD. Whatever is wrong with me? LOL Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! I have a check up on Dec. 15th for blood work and a quick visit with the Physician’s Assistant. I’m really dreading it. I don’t like to go to the doctor! God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Psalm 119:71, 76-77 It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees ... May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. Acts 19:11-12 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. 2 Corinthians 1:20-21 Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God's Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete. 2 Peter 1:3-4 According as his divine power hath given to us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Zechariah 4:6 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord. Do you like my new picture? It was taken yesterday at Jim’s school during ‘Thanksgiving Lunch’. I don’t look as pale as I did on July 4th in my old profile picture! YIKES! My eye is a little bloodshot in the picture. I’d been rubbing it because it was itching so…. Hubby has off til the Monday after Thanksgiving! Wow, I am so looking forward to getting out each day and doing fun things. We’ve already finished our Christmas shopping, so it’s all fun things now, with no rushing or trying to find things on our list. I purchased almost everything off the internet and have received everything except Jim’s presents. I do need to wrap the gifts for the grandkids and my mother and get those mailed. I’ve addressed 40 Christmas cards and have signed another 60 or so. My handwriting isn’t the best right now because of the neuropathy, but I’m sure people will not even notice. When Jim was a state representative, we would send over 400 cards each year and get so very many ourselves. What lovely, lovely weather we’re having! It’s quite chilly at night for this time of year but warms up to low 60°’s during the day and it’s so bright and crisp out. I love the fall weather! I have now listened to some Chrismtas music. In fact, I bought a new Christmas CD for Jim yesterday. I went to school early for lunch with him and then the girl I mentor left early with her grandmother who’d come to eat with her, so I had several hours to waste. I got him a Nora Jones Christmas CD. He likes Jazz and I do not. Do you like video games? I like Jak and Daxter and have my own copy for my own (Nick gave it to me) PS2. I really think it helps my hands! I’m pretty good at the game. Should be. We’ve had it for 9 years! LOL I got another copy and gave it to Nick’s girlfriend. Well, hubby should be home very soon. I’ve made a huge pot of homemade chicken vegetable soup for supper. Boy, when we run out of homemade soup, Nick gives me a hard time. He loves my soups! This pot has chicken, brown rice, collard greens, okra, carrots, field peas, snap beans and corn. It’s virtually fat free because I make my own chicken stock and defat it. Yummy, yummy! I have plenty if you’d like to come for supper. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return!

Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the Word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. --2 Corinthians 4:1-2 Good Grief! I did it again! It’s been 20 days since I’ve blogged! Wow… I have been very busy doing very fun things. I’m sure you understand. Hey, this time last year I was sick and had no idea it was colon cancer! I couldn’t enjoy any food, parties or even being out and about. This year is so very different. Why just this week I’ve been out so much. Tuesday night was Ladies Night Out with gals from church. We had horrible weather with high winds, dense fog and rain, rain, rain, but we still went to Olive Tree here in Villa Rica and had a great time. Yesterday was Nick’s home school classes. Jennifer came home with us afterwards. We went to Krystal for lunch (for them) and they watched Temple of Doom. We also went to a locally owned Dollar Store and found some goodies. They had SPUR, our church youth group, last night. Jim and I went to Olive Garden in Douglasville and then to Hobby Lobby. Last week I had my yearly mammogram on Tuesday in Atlanta and Wednesday morning I had an appointment with an eye surgeon for my two year exam. I have a burn on my retina. The chemo makes your eyes more sensitive and a reading lamp by my computer was high enough that the light bulb was at eye height. Oh dear! Other than that, I have healthy eyes. My mammogram was great, too. I got my pemanent crown on a back molar this past Tuesday, too. So…. Tuesday, Dec. 15th is my four months after chemo ended check up. I’ll see the physician’s assistant and have blood work. I’m a little anxious over that. I’ve never liked going to the doctor. Would you say a quick prayer that my blood work will be great with only good news? I believe God has healed me 100%. Our adversary likes to sneak in some negative remarks from my mother or people who haven’t seen me in months, etc. I rebuke you Satan! Get behind me! (Get LOST) I made new bows for our formal Christmas tree. They’re a red satin with small green edging and a bit of gold sparkle. Oh how pretty the tree looks! So festive! I have two trees this year in the house. We have 2 decorated outside. Jon came over and put lights up on the gables for us. Our house looks like a gingerbread house. It’s so pretty. We had a very nice Thanksgiving. I didn’t over eat. In fact, I’ve been very good with my healthy diet. The only thing I have done recently is eat about 4 of Jim’s world famous Hard Molasses Cookies each day with coffee or tea. They are just so good! He made 15 ½ dozen and they are almost gone. He’s taken them to friends at BMS or church and family has gotten some, too. YUM….. I really must box up and ship presents to the grandkids. I bought the gifts right after Thanksgiving but just need some odd sized boxes. Everything else is wrapped and under the tree. I finally got to talk to our granddaughters, tho it had been almost 2 months. Their father hates me and calls me an ignorant hypocrit plus some other not so nice things. He has primary custody so there’s no chance of our having regular contact with the girls. I’m happy to say the girls are now being taken to church, tho. I am guessing it is the grandfather who takes them. I don’t think anyone else goes except for Easter, Christmas and a service where they remember those who have died. Of course, that’s second hand knowlege The girl I mentor has been working on a scarf for her mother for Christmas. Today we’ll put on the fringe and get it wrapped. I’m going to go ahead and have her take it home because at Thanksgiving, she left early the day I was to mentor her when Mom came for the holiday meal. I don’t want to take a chance and have her not prepared for Christmas. She did a good job. I’d made so very many scarfs! Jim had me wrap up over a dozen and we gave them to teacher friends at school. I still have a few for myself and have 5 in the works plus yarn for about 15 more. It sure does help my hands. I was supposed to be out at Wal-Mart this morning getting signatures for a recall vote for our County Chairman. The wind chill is 24° and actual temp is only 31°. One of the chemo drugs I was given causes EXTREME sensitivity to cold and that lasts for a year from most people. Some have permanent damage. There is no way I could be in the cold for 2 hours! Well, I am so sorry I’ve not been keeping up with my blog. My computer had gotten very slow and Jim fixed it but this week, it’s just not working again. I’m not online much at all anymore. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return and for good blood test results next week! I appreciate the prayers of the Saints on this forum! Have you ever heard the term ‘Friend with Benefits’? Well Jesus is our friend and our friend with benefits, but we forget …. And miss out on those benefits! Look at this scripture… read carefully! Psalms 103:1 A Psalm of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6 The Lord executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. 7 He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. 9 He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. 14 For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more. 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children's children, 18 To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. 19 The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. 21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. 22 Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul! AMEN!! So, the last few weeks have been very busy. I’ve had my yearly mammogram, two year eye exam, a crown put on a molar and my four month follow up after chemo ended. If you read the prayer board, you probably know my news. My blood work was great! My CEA, which looks for tumor markers, was normal for a person without cancer. That’s wonderful news. No evidence of disease one year after surgery for Stage III colon cancer. I have to schedule a colonoscopy for Jan. or Feb. and will have a yearly CT scan in late March or early April. I expect them to be fine. Now let me give credit where credit is due…. Psalms 30:2 “O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.” Psalms 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalms 103:3 “Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,” Matthew 8:16-17 “When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses." 1 Peter 2:21-24 “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.” Can you believe that this time next week, Christmas will be over! Wow has this year flown past! Are you ready for Christmas? We are other than a few groceries. All our presents were mailed and received. We sent out a few cards, about 40, and about another 120 were taken up to church. Instead of mailing cards to church friends, we put a donation toward a church project chosen by a Sunday School class that sets up a ‘post office’ where cards are collected. It’s a great idea! Not sure how much they make each year. We decided to put up our third Christmas tree inside. Actually, it was Jim’s idea. We put one up in the rec room downstairs and Jim set up the train around the base. It’s a cheap tree, but it does add to the festivity. The whole house is decorated except for Nick’s room. He used to have a tree in his room but he says it’s too much trouble for a small bedroom. Not me! I love having a tree in our bedroom. I fall asleep looking at it and have it set to come on early each morning. I have a very busy weekend and week coming up. Saturday morning I have a ‘Tacky Christmas Brunch’ at a friend’s house. We’re to bring a dish to share and dress up in all our Christmas ‘finest’ with the idea that we are to look silly. I don’t have silly type clothing but I do have some Winnie the Pooh Christmas overalls and loads and loads of Christmas pins. Sunday is a Christmas Breakfast for all the Sunday School Teachers and their families. Sunday after church we’re going to lunch with a group. Sunday afternoon I’m going to a friend’s house for a small party. Tuesday, Nick’s girlfriend is coming over to listen to Christmas music, sit by the fire and swap presents. What a difference a year makes. I was sick last year and had no idea it was colon cancer. I only knew I felt bloated and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t eat….. This year I am healthy again! Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! All the people who took chemo with me have died. God Bless, Diane Tavegia Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will You let your Holy One see decay. Matthew 8:16-17 “When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses." 1 Peter 2:21-24 “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.” Proverbs 18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, But who can bear a broken spirit? Mark 11: 22-26 “So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." Did you have a lovely Sunday? I did! Busy, but lovely! We had a Sunday School teacher’s breakfast at 8:00 and enjoyed sitting with some good friends. Church was fantastic! Wonderful sermon and great music! Great turnout today, too. After church we went out for Sunday dinner with a big crowd of friends. We ate and visited until 1:30 or later. My friend’s open house had to be postponed because their pump broke and they had no water. I ran over and got my fingernails done in a bright red for Christmas. Later this afternoon, we went to Kohl’s and got some church shirts for Nick, a sweater vest for Jim and two sweaters and turtlenecks for me. They’re having a huge sale and we saved over $138.00 plus got $20.00 back! All those clothes ended up costing $87.00 and change. Goody Goody! Going to lunch tomorrow at O’Charley’s with some gal pals! Neat. Jon’s going to detail our car for us on Monday. It really needs it. We don’t store junk in the car or leave garbage in it, but it’s been a long time since it’s been really well cleaned. It’s supposed to be pretty during the day for the next few days. We’ll have 9 for Christmas dinner. I wish Publix had gotten in some larger turkeys. Ours is 24 lbs. We won’t have a lot of leftovers but with all the trimmings, etc., we’ll have plenty for the day. Not sure where everyone will sit! Our home is small and doesn’t have a formal dining area. We can seat 6 at the kitchen table so we’ll end up with some eating in the living room. That’s okay! It’ll be fun, as always. Nick’s girlfriend is coming over early on Christmas Eve so they can exchange presents. She has to go to her father’s house for that night and part of Christmas Day. She’ll stay with us until time for our Christmas Eve service at 5:00. I signed up today for the Diane Nix Women’s Conference our church is hosting in late January. I’m hoping Preston can fly in with Diane. I can’t wait to see them. Preston may be the best preacher I’ve ever heard. He’s now teaching at NOBTS. Lovely family! If you live nearby, wish you would join us! I need to notify the church that I’ll be attending the Women’s Bible Study that starts in early Jan. too. We’re doing Beth Moore’s ‘The Patriarchs’. I couldn’t attend when this was done a few years ago. I’m so blessed to be able to do all these things, now. God has surely blessed our family! I have got to load up some clothing and get it to the Fullerville Mission tomorrow. I’d thought about listing the things on freecycle but most of these are Old Navy sweaters, shirts and jeans that Nick outgrew. They look like new and surely some family could use them for a teen. Fullerville has lots of people come in the last day or so before Christmas looking for things to give for Christmas. Nick’s grown so quickly……… and so tall! He’s just under 6’. He’s going to be the tallest person in our family, for sure! I’m quite happy to report that I’m slowly losing weight. I’m down to 132lbs. I’m walking each day and still eating healthy according to The Mediterranean Diet. I have found that I can eat out and choose wisely…. My family loves the foods we choose from, too. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! God Bless, Diane Tavegia Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me. Ecclesiastes 11:6 “Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.” Psalms 1:3 "They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.” Psalms 25:4 "Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out the right road for me to follow.” Matthew 10:27 “What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ears, shout from the housetops for all to hear!” Another busy day here but loads of fun! I have been sleeping so well! Anyhow, I got up around 8:15 and made coffee before showering. I think I told you about the plan to meet at O’Charley’s today at noon. Jim took me to the restaurant and I had a lovely lunch with some church friends. I chose the Creamy Broccoli Soup and a Chef Salad. It was very good. I did try one tiny bite of chocolate cake. Yummy but not worth the fats, calories, etc. Since Jon was detailing our car for us, my friend, Tina, gave me a ride home. While Mary and Jon were here, we had Jon help Jim bring up the 7 foot long dining table from our garage. My step father had made it for me over 30 years ago and it’s really too long for the room, but it’s gotten harder and harder to find places for everyone to eat when family and friends are over. Christmas Day, we’ll have at least 9 people here. The big table can actually seat 12 if needed. I don’t have a tablecloth for it anymore so I’m going up to Walmart or Hobby Lobby later to get one. Jim and I went to Home Depot and looked at doors. We’d like to replace not only our front door, but the ‘side lights’ (glass) around the front door. That’s a huge chunk of money plus a carpenter really should do the install. We’ll see. Next spring, maybe. I sure do love my new washer and dryer! Instead of several loads a day, I’m doing maybe 3 or 4 loads a week! Whatever will I do with all my free time? LOL Nick is so excited about Christmas. He’s already chosen which present he wants to open on Christmas Eve. If he only knew what Santa is bringing! He’ll be so surprised! I seem to be getting the sniffles. I haven’t had a cold in many years. Seems like it’s been at least 6 years. Maybe more. It’ll probably be gone by tomorrow morning. So tomorrow I’m going to scrub the floors and vacuum the furniture in the living room. I changed all the sheets today. I’d like to have everything done so Christmas Eve isn’t rushed. On Christmas Eve we’ll go to church for a candlelight communion service. Mary, Jon and her girls will go with us. Nick and Jennifer, too. What a lovely evening that will be. After dark, we’ll ride around and look at the decorations, too. Can’t stay up too late or Santa might skip our house! I’m not at all hungry after such a filling lunch but I’m sure my boys are. Guess I’d better find something and get to cooking! Never mind! We're going to Subway. Have a lovely evening and be well. Please remember me in prayer and also whisper a prayer for Michelle Parrow. Michelle is a young Missionary wife who has just been diagnosed with leukemia. They’re in Ireland with her husband’s family and covet your prayers. Merry Christmas, Diane Tavegia

Another busy and fun day! I slept 9 hours last night and was up well before the rest of the family. I made coffee and read my devotionals, checked emails and Facebook. Jim and I had a few errands to do before he went into Atlanta to see a friend so we stopped by O’ Charley’s and had a quick lunch. I got the Alfredo Chicken and Broccoli Baked Potato and Chicken Harvest Soup. I didn’t eat all my soup but boy was everything good. We went over to Wal-Mart and got some hand towels in purple and the movie, Elf. Jim needed some mailing packets so he could send out some CD’s he’d made. We came home and I got to cleaning while he got his things ready to mail. I got an awful lot done today, tho I didn’t do what I’d planned to do. Changed my mind and did a fall cleaning type cleaning on our bedroom and bathroom. So, Jim had met a man on Stereophile or another audio forum. This guy is in Atlanta and owns a Vintage Music Shop with thousands of records. The shop is open from 2 til midnight! Jim has several turntables and all our albums from so many decades ago and this piqued his interest. Off he went, with my blessing, of course! Well, I got the bedroom and bath all spiffied up and did a load of towels while I was at it. I also cleaned the appliances in the kitchen and swept. I’ll dust the living room tomorrow and then scrub the kitchen floor. It’s going to start raining on Thursday so Scooter will track in some mud on my kitchen floor, but he’s worth it. I do love my animals! Talked to my mother for a while today. She’s so negative about life and always has been. Woe is me…. Anyhow, she is upset that she has arthritis in her knee and termites in her Alabama house. Wish she would find peace and could enjoy life. She’ll be 78 next July. Talked to our daughter for a while this a.m. She’ll have her girls on Christmas and she’s supposed to call while family is here so they can talk to everyone. Hope she remembers. Our grandson didn’t have school due to the snow. His daddy, our oldest son, invited a couple of friends over for Jackson and they made snowmen and had snowball fights until it was time for Scott to go to work. Jackson is so excited about Santa! He got to choose the presents he wanted to buy for his mom and dad and he helped wrap them. He’s a real fun person to talk to on the phone. He tells me all about his day, school, friends, church, sports, etc. He’ll be 7 on Jan. 15th. YIKES… I need to remember to buy his birthday present. He loves Legos and Nerf guns. I’ll make sure I know what all he got for Christmas so I don’t duplicate anything! So, for Christmas it will be at least 9. Jim and Jon brought up the 7 foot table and I got a burgundy table cloth for it last night. Wish we’d tried it 11 years ago! All these years with a tiny table…. Oh well! Now, I do need a couple more chairs, tho. I have 7. One got too wobbly and I got rid of it. My chairs are in twos. Two antiques. Two oak chairs and three cheap white and pine chairs. Think I’ll watch on Freecycle and get two more that don’t match anything else. I like the straw seats. Used to have those years ago. Oh, I do have a bench that seats two adults but if one person gets up, both have to. I have very eclectic chairs, right? Jim says he’s getting worried about me! I watched a 1950’s Rudolph cartoon last night. Today I watched ‘The Best Present of All’ from the Donut Man and ‘Winnie the Pooh and Christmas, too’. I’ve watched ‘Polar Express’ 3 times, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, ‘Miracle on 34th Street’, ‘Elf’, ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘One Magic Christmas’, ‘The Gathering’, ‘It Happened One Christmas’, ‘Prancer’, ‘Prancer Returns’, ‘A Grandfather for Christmas’…… many of those numerous times. I’d say I’m enjoying Christmas, wouldn’t you? Soooo….. tomorrow I’ll clean and make my grocery list. Jim has a dental cleaning on Christmas Eve at 8:40. Nick’s girlfriend is coming to spend much of the day and then go with us to our Christmas Eve service. We’ll have Wassail, apple cider, cookies, candy and a crackling fire, Christmas music for Nick and Jennifer. Then, pies to bake, china to wash and then Santa! Don’t forget to pray for Michelle Parrow, the young missionary to Northern Ireland who has just been diagnosed with leukemia. She had been taking antibiotics for a very bad sore throat. She passed out on Sunday and hit her head. The ER did blood tests and found her illness. It’s a very rare form of leukemia that is curable if treatment is started in time. She and Matt have two children and Matt’s parents are also missionaires to Ireland. I’d also appreciate it if you remember to lift me in prayer that my colon cancer will never return. I give God the honor and glory for my healing! Have a great evening and again, Merry Christmas! Diane Tavegia

The Christmas Story: A Messianic Jewish translation from the B'rit Hadashah (The New Testament or literally The New Covenant) Mattityahu 1:18-25 Here is how the birth of Yeshua the Messiah took place. When his mother Miryam was engaged to Yosef, before they were married, she was found to be pregnant from the Ruach-HaKodesh. Her husband-to-be, Yosef, was a man who did what was right; so he made plans to break the engagement quietly, rather than put her to public shame. But while he was thinking about this, an angel of Adonai appeared to him in a dream and said, "Yosef, son of David, do not be afraid to take Miryam home with you as your wife; for what has been conceived in her is from the Ruach-HaKodesh. She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua, [which means 'Adonai saves'] because he will save his people from their sins. All this happened in order to fulfill what Adonai had said through the prophet: "The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Immanu'El." (The name means "with us is God.") When Yosef awoke, he did what the angel of Adonai had told him to do -- he took Miryam home to be his wife, but he did not have sexual relations with her until she had given birth to a son, and he named him Yeshua. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! Christmas Eve we had Nick’s girlfriend over to exchange gifts and eat supper with us. At 5:00, we went to the Candlelight Communion at our church. Wow, so many people! Many from our community that I’ve never seen before. I hope they’ll come back and worship with us during the year. After the lovely and touching service, we drove around and looked at the Christmas lights. All our pre holiday chores were done so we watched ‘The Snowman’ and ‘One Magic Christmas’ before our long winter’s nap. Santa got up at 3:00 to deliver Nick’s big surprise gift. Jim got the remastered Beatle’s CD’s and other music plus some DVD’s of artists he likes. I got 10 sweaters and a turtleneck. (I’m a sweater freak) I’d actually helped choose some of the sweaters when Christopher and Banks had a big sale, so we didn’t wrap those, but Jim had gotten the others. Nick got me the movie The Notebook’. I really wanted that movie! I’ve never seen it straight through. I’ve seen the middle and the ending but not the whole thing. LOVE it! Nick had a very nice Christmas! He deserved it tho. He was such a help during my chemo and after. So thoughtful …. Anyhow, he got Beatles Rock Band that came with drums, microphone and guitar. He got two PS3 games, a leather jacket, a necklace, loads of clothes and…. Santa brought him a 32” flat screen t.v. for his room. Here’s something so cute. Our oldest son, Scott, puts out 2 carrots for each reindeer with our grandson, Jackson. Last night Scott ground up many of the carrots and spread reindeer poop in the snow. He nibbled on the rest of the carrots and left them as evidence. Isn’t that neat? Jack was cracking up over the orange ‘poop’ in his yard. Scott took loads of pictures of the whole evening and day. Talked to the granddaughters for a few minutes. They got some neat toys. We had a great meal and wonderful time with family and friends. Nick’s girlfriend came over after lunch and he, Jennifer, Nikki and Christina played drums, 2 guitars and sang for HOURS. It was so funny. Jen and Nick are still drumming and strumming. Nick’s trying to get Jennifer to sing. Scooter isn’t so sure about all the new noise. He keeps perking up his ears and cocking his head to the side. Cute. I hope you enjoyed Christma and remembered that it’s not about toys and food but about the cross. Jesus was born to die a horrific death so that we can live eternally in heaven with Him some day. Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! Diane Tavegia Micah 4:8;5:2 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. From www.worthynews.com There are many who are not aware of the very deep significance of Bethlehem,Yeshua's (Jesus') birthplace. Everyone knows that Bethlehem was a place where shepherds grazed their sheep, and where the Messiah was to be born, but do not realize that it was a town designated as the birthing place for lambs which were used for the Passover sacrifice. The Scriptures give significant details about this little town lying slightly south of Jerusalem. In Micah 4:8 we read about the "watchtower of the flock", or in Hebrew, "Migdal Edar." According to the "Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah", by Alfred Edersheim, a Jewish believer in the late 1800's, Migal Edar was the location where the Messiah was to be revealed. This watchtower stood as a place of protection for the city from approaching enemies, but it was also utilized by shepherds to watch over the specific flocks from which sacrificial Passover lambs were taken. The shepherds who were tending these particular flocks were no ordinary shepherds. They were specifically trained by the Rabbis for a holy task. They had to insure that, as much as possible, every lamb was free of any blemish or injury, in order to be used for the Passover sacrifice. Since they were instructed by the Rabbis, they almost certainly knew of those passages in the Targums (Aramaic translations) and the Mishna associating the birth of the Messiah with "Migdal Edar". For example, Migdal Edar is translated in one of the Targums as "The Anointed One of the Flock of Israel." It is also written in the Mishna that "He spread his tent beyond Migdal Edar, the place where King Messiah will reveal Himself at the end of days."

Today is my 59th Birthday. Last year this time I was so very sick and had no idea I had Stage III colon cancer. Today I am cancer free, thanks to the healing power of my Heavenly Father. I give HIM all glory and honor! I called out to HIM and HE healed me! 2 Corinthians 10:17 But "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." We had a lovely birthday. I was a bit lazy, getting up around 8:00, but sitting around until 9:30 or so before showering. Jennifer, Nick’s girlfriend, came over around 12:45 and we went to O’Charley’s for lunch. I had Loaded Potato Soup and an Alfredo, chicken and broccoli baked potato. I only ate half my potato so I finished it for supper. Today is Nick's birthday, too. His uncles called. His grandparents sent cards and emailed. Again, this year, he did not hear from our daughter, his birth mother. He mentioned it a few minutes ago. After lunch, Nick and Jennifer played games and then watched a scary movie until time for her to leave. After supper, Jim and I went for a walk in Walmart. We ran into several friends so we didn’t get a lot of walking done. It was a very pleasant day. Monday we got a call from some church friends who invited us out to supper. We ate and chatted for hours. While we were at the restaurant, several other friends came in. Seems like everyone had the same idea. We’ve had so many deaths in our church family in the last few days. It’s so sad to see people hurting during the holiday season. We have a funeral tomorrow. I’m not sure of the other service times yet. At least these families know they’ll see their loved ones again. Tomorrow (Wednesday the 30th) Hobby Lobby will have their Christmas items 80- 90% off. The plan is for me to be there when they open so I can find some nice items. After Thanksgiving, I got $300.00 worth of things for $30.00. That’s a bargain. We have 2 Hobby Lobby stores but they’re both about 20 miles away in opposite directions. No matter! I’ll enjoy the treasure hunt. It’s not like I NEED any Christmas items….. We’re going to watch a Johnny Depp movie we got for $5.00. I’ve never heard of it but it’s got a lot of really good actors and you can’t be $5.00! Hope you keep warm, well and with those you love! Please remember me in your prayers that my colon cancer will never return! God Bless, Diane Tavegia Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the LORD always before me.
